OUR FARM HISTORY
At Farmer John's, daily picking ensures that you get the very freshest produce available. We'll even take special requests and grow vegetables for you. We are famous for our sweet corn, tree ripened peaches, vine ripened tomatoes, cantaloupes, and colonial sugar baby watermelons. If you want it, we have it - from our hot peppers to our special white eggplant.
The Whitmore family has farmed this land since 1834, we are proud to be the 4th and 5th generations to farm. It is our lifeblood and our heritage.
You can find us on Route 15, just 5 miles north of Leesburg, VA under the shade trees with our products displayed on flat bed wagons on the east side of the road. Easy parking in a historic farm field where Civil War soldiers marched on their way to Gettysburg and Antietam.
Come and visit! We are open from mid-June until Thanksgiving. Our hours are from 8am until sunset.

A little about the farm
Farm life does not start in the spring and end in the fall at the last harvest. We need to work on the farm all year round.
In the spring we start many of our vegetable plants as seedlings, keeping them warm, watering and fertilizing them until just after the last frost. We till the garden fields making our conservation beds and implement our state of the art drip irrigation system.
During the growing session we continually tend the gardens, harvesting vegetables, weeding and replanting as needed. Once the growing session is over we plant cover crops and start overhauling and repairing our farm equipment.
